A Hidden Gem Honeymoon Resort in Costa Mujeres
After my recent visit to Costa Mujeres, my husband and I were lucky to check out Atelier Playa Mujeres during a site inspection#travelagentlife. We were BLOWN away! Nestled along the exclusive shores of Costa Mujeres, Atelier Playa Mujeres beckons travelers into a world where luxury, Mexican traditions, and international cuisine converge to create an unparalleled vacation experience. It was incredible from top to bottom and what I consider to be the ultimate honeymoon resort.
The Vibes
The gorgeous lobby
From the minute you walk in the lobby it is apparent something is different here. The style is known as “Mexican Contemporary” and the clean lines and contrast mix with dark hardwood to evoke a sense of being outdoors but sheltered. Contemporary Mexican artwork, with its mix of cultural tradition and modern sensibilities, lies nestled in the most intuitive locations - prominent without being in the way, abundant without being overwhelming. Along with the visual touches, everything smells incredible, a deliberate blend of citrus and earth tones that is conveniently available for purchase if you’d like a bit of vacation to take home. And I would be remiss if I didn’t note something that might be easy to miss: every song playing in every area was unique and perfectly matched to the ambiance, down to being the perfect volume. Whether it’s the work of an in-house DJ or simply the playlists of a musical sommelier, it was a subtle but very welcome touch.
Location, Location, Location
Costa Mujeres offers a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway. Costa Mujeres boasts pristine, white-sand beaches with clear turquoise waters. The tranquil and picturesque beaches provide a serene and relaxing atmosphere for visitors.
Costa Mujeres is situated just north of Cancún, making it easily accessible from the Cancún International Airport, about a 45 minute drive away from the bustle of the city. Costa Mujeres is surrounded by natural beauty, including lush landscapes, mangroves, and wildlife. The region's proximity to the Caribbean Sea also provides opportunities for water activities such as snorkeling, diving, and boat excursions to explore the nearby islands and coral reefs.

The Intimate, Spacious Rooms
The rooms are spacious without being capacious, have a number of clever design features, and are beautifully arranged and detailed. The beds are arranged to always face the ocean and beautiful vista [incredibly romantic to wake up wrapped in each others limbs, opening the curtains to the soft sun and gorgeous blue waters.] The bathroom is LUXURIOUS [all caps] with a gorgeous soaking tub, tiled walk in shower with bench, and double vanities. I could honestly picture myself lounging in these rooms without leaving the entire day, especially since the snack cart is stocked full of all the necessities [drinks, booze, juices, energy drinks, candies, chips, and snacks]. You honestly wouldn’t have to leave if you have the swimout of plunge terrace.
Food Lovers Paradise
The standard liquor options are a full shelf above their all-inclusive peers. Every restaurant is beautiful with authentic menus. The type of food and quality of it is always one of my TOP priorities when planning a trip – especially when staying at an all-inclusive for a week and going elsewhere is impractical!
Atelier has fourteen food spots on property and caters to even the pickiest eaters and ambitious foodies. The resort uses a reservation system to book dinners each night. There are iPads located outside of each restaurant, and from there each guest is able to login with a unique pin created at check in to reserve dinner at any restaurant across the resort. Reservations can be made up to two days in advance.
One of the restaurants that stood out to me was Kopai which serves sushi, seafood, and Asian entrees which would be a total hit for my husband. Los Abrazos seems to be the highlight of Atelier dining experiences and I highly recommend my clients book reservations for this restaurant ASAP. My favorite stop for a treat? Cafecito, their own little coffee shop that served a divine iced chai and adorable macarons for a munch. [And as a little bonus, you are welcome to enjoy any of the books on offering while you’re there.] Finally, if you’re not ready to leave the pool, there are plenty of options to eat on your lounge chair.
Things To Do
This resort offers a tranquil ambiance, making it less suitable for those seeking a party atmosphere. However, if your preference is to indulge in pampering, reconnect with your significant other, and unwind, then this is the ideal destination for you. Atelier boasts four pools, with two included in the basic package and an additional two exclusively for guests participating in their Inspira program. The main pool is generously sized, featuring two swim-up bars and an oversized hot tub.
Moreover, the resort provides a private beach section exclusively reserved for its guests, equipped with ample daybeds and beach chairs. Attentive wait staff are always nearby at both the pools and the beach, offering guests the opportunity to order drinks or food and providing refreshing ice-cold waters.
Similar to cruise experiences, the resort offers a downloadable app that contains useful information such as maps, restaurant operating hours, menus, room service ordering, and the weekly schedule. Throughout their week-long stay, guests can partake in a variety of enjoyable activities, including a Sushi-making workshop, Beach Volleyball, Latin Dance lessons, Paint & Sip, Guided Bike Ride, Guided Kayaking Adventure, and an Aqua Dance Class!
Have a golf lover? This resort is right next to a gorgeous 18 hole golf course designed by Greg Norman and provides an experience for all skill levels. The resort will help you with all your golf needs like club rental and golf carts.
Additional Benefits
Those vacationing with the Inspiria program can enjoy special benefits such as an earlier check in time, exclusive access to additional lounges and pools, a personalized butler service, and more. The Inspiria suites have additional diversity in style such as oceanfront suites, swim out suites, and rooftop suites! In comparison, regular guests are able to choose between a standard room or an ocean view room. Clients can opt to not participate in the Inspiria program on this trip and still have a magical vacation – no need to upgrade for an unforgettable experience - but for my honeymooners - I recommend treating yourself!
