Atelier Playa Mujeres is a sophisticated, adults-only resort in the beautiful Costa Mujeres, north of Cancun! As a travel advisor for destination weddings, I’ve visited Atelier twice - and when my husband saw this resort his jaw literally dropped to the floor. Atelier Playa Mujeres is designed to resemble a contemporary Mexican art studio, blending modern design with traditional Mexican artistry. The resort features artistic elements and decor inspired by Mexican culture, creating a sophisticated and visually stunning environment for guests. There are endless areas to explore, plus complete privacy when you want it. I love this resort so much that I want more couples to know about it! Before diving into the wedding venues at Atelier Playa Mujeres, I must highlight the incredible resort & suites! At Atelier Playa Mujeres, there are two main categories of suites: Junior Suites and Inspira Suites. Junior Suites offer a luxurious and comfortable experience, featuring contemporary Mexican design elements, stunning views of the lush gardens, pool, or Caribbean Sea, and modern amenities. Junior Suites provide an elegant space with a king-size bed or two double beds, a fully-stocked minibar, a spacious bathroom with a rain shower, and a private balcony or terrace. Inspira Suites are for those seeking a more exclusive and upgraded experience, Inspira Suites offer additional luxury and personalized services. Despite being semi-private, the beach venue at Atelier is irresistible for your ceremony, reception, or cocktail hour. Ideal for a late afternoon to evening wedding, it can host up to 180 guests. Most couples adorn the wooden gazebo to their taste, and I love the sand mats that make navigating in your dress and shoes easier.
GUIDE TO ATELIER WEDDING VENUES
Beach Venue
Even though this venue is only semi-private, you cannot help but fall in love with the beach venue for your ceremony, reception, or cocktail hour. It’s perfect for a late afternoon to evening wedding & can host up to 180 guests. Most couples use the wooden gazebo and decorate it to their liking. I also love the sand mats which make it a little easier to navigate in your dress and shoes.
Atelier offers a variety of stunning venues for bridal couples, like the semi-secluded Limón & Sal, a "secret garden" surrounded by tropical plants, perfect for an outdoor reception accommodating up to 150 guests.
Limón & Sal Garden
Another thing I love about Atelier, is that they had so many different venue options for bridal couples - it could honestly accommodate ANY taste. Limón & Sal is perfect for that “secret garden wedding.” This venue is semi-secluded from most of the resort & is surrounded by tropical plants. It’s perfect for those who want an outdoor reception and it can accommodate up to 150 guests for a cocktail party or dinner.
El Cielo Terrace
Maybe sand or gardens aren’t your thing but you want those gorgeous blue ocean views? El Cielo Terrace, the exclusive sky bar with infinity pool, is an impressive alternative for couples who are looking for the scenic vistas. I love it for couples to have their ceremonies and cocktail hours at but note that it’s slightly tighter than the beach or garden since it can only host up to 100 guests. It’s available until 11pm and very close to the Los Abrazos Terrace, the only private venue at Atelier.
If sand or gardens aren't your style but you crave stunning ocean views, El Cielo Terrace is the perfect alternative. This exclusive sky bar with an infinity pool is ideal for ceremonies and cocktail hours, offering breathtaking vistas. Keep in mind it can accommodate up to 100 guests, making it a bit cozier than the beach or garden venues.
Los Abrazos Terrace
If you’re seeking a private venue, Los Abrazos Terrace is the perfect choice. This steakhouse restaurant is ideal for cocktail hours or receptions, offering both indoor and outdoor areas with ocean views. Host up to 100 guests here and enjoy delicious cuts of meat paired with fine wine. I love this venue option because it provides a blank canvas for you to make as you will - perfect for a bridal couple with a Pinterest-inspired vision
For a private venue, Los Abrazos Terrace is ideal with its indoor and outdoor areas offering ocean views, perfect for cocktail hours or receptions, hosting up to 100 guests and serving delicious cuts of meat and fine wine; it's a blank canvas for couples with a Pinterest vision.
Besides these four venues, Atelier also offers a ballroom [a great rain alternative], Suspiro [a restaurant close to the beach], Don Fernando [perfect for a welcome reception with a gorgeous vista], and Bikin Terrace [lovely for a dance fest]. They also offer a private bridal room to get ready in tucked away in their amazing spa - and it is far from an afterthought, with some clearly intentional thought behind its design.
The Atelier bridal suite is the ideal space to share with your wedding tribe as you get ready for your day. Far from an afterthought, it tastefully has enough room for all your girls and your mamas! It also connects with the beauty salon and spa for a day of true pampering!
If you read my resort review, you can probably guess how I’m going to conclude: Atelier Playa Mujeres is as much of a full-sensory experience as it is an all-inclusive resort. The in-house aromatics are ubiquitous enough to be noticeable without being intrusive or overwhelming. The ambient music in every location is perfectly matched to its vibe, and never so loud you cannot enjoy an intimate conversation with your partner or a friendly chat with your fellow travelers. And for what it’s worth, their standard well liquor options (and the complimentary offerings in the rooms) are generally a full shelf above those of their all-inclusive peers.
If you truly want your wedding guests to feel like guests, rather than customers, this is the one.
